From the Eyes of a Chef

Author:
Grace Illingworth

Five years ago, after I miraculously whipped together a batch of chocolate chip cookies from scratch, my brother turned to me with a melted chocolate chip latched to his tooth and said, “Gracie, you should be a chef.” Fast forward five years, and I have prepared countless omelets, slow roasted chickens, fumbled my way through dark chocolate cake recipes, and, of course made chocolate chip cookies. Simply put, I love to cook and eat. If you are a fine food and culinary aficionado like me, Boston’s Via Matta embodies the Mecca of authentic Italian cuisine.

No Place for Tagging

Author:

Everyone in one way or another loves to express what they feel. Many people use words or writing. Their intention for speaking their mind is to get other people to get their point of view. Many people who choose to write often will sit down to a pad and paper; however there are still some who take a very different approach, people called taggers, and the way that they choose to express themselves is through graphic presentations on buildings and billboards worldwide.

A young boy sits in a dark room by himself. The room is gently lit by dull flashes of light without any set tempo. There is a foreign voice that lets off a nonsensical quip followed by a laugh track. The boy lets out a tiny giggle.

My Other Half

When I woke up in the recovery room, I felt as though a runaway eighteen-wheeler had hit me in the stomach at record-breaking speed and each wheel had run over my weakened body in slow motion. I heard only the sound of monitors bleeping and nurses speaking while I regained consciousness. The blurry faces of strangers and the blank ceiling above me are all I could manage to keep my eyes open long enough to see.
